Other than cleaning the original nonskid (beaded brightsides) is there any other prudent prep before repainting...like sanding? Does the stuff stick OK without sanding?

I would clean thoroughly, solvent wash, and probably lightly sand just for good measure to "tooth" it up a bit and even out the surface a bit (something like 120 grit on a palm sander, or even quickly by hand). I'm most likely going to repaint mine this winter as well--after three seasons and a couple "dropped things" and small accidents, it could use a freshening. I wasn't planning on any extravagant prep work--just whatever it takes and no more.
However, since I haven't had opportunity to repaint this sort of surface after it's been used, I'm not sure how it will react. My gut feeling is that the new paint will stick pretty well, especially if you used the flattening agent originally (I think you did?).
Does yours really need repainting after only a season? Were Nathan and I that tough on the deck during our trip? ha ha
