I've been quiet in the background...taking in the advice from The Plastic Classic Forum...and have just launched my restoration project...

Congrats! Launching after a three-year project has got to feel good :)

Just opened your blog and it looks like it's going to be a fun read!

Rachel

PS: I like the color. I remember seeing a color something like that on the Kirby paint chart and thinking I'd like to see what it would look like on a plastic classic.

(They have some interesting/old-fashioned looking colors:

Wow, looks great. I'm looking forward to reading the blog, I always need inspiration. It must be feel incredible to have her back in the water.

I always thought the Sea Sprite was one of Albergs prettiest designs. The jaunty sheer is much more pronounced than many of his other designs, it is reminiscent of some of Rhodes drawings.

Thanks Rachel...I mixed a 32:1 ratio of Interlux Brightsides (Blu Glow White and Fire Red); probably would have been much easier to purchase a Kirby product :)

Thanks Magic...I am following your site as well. It's nice to finely have her in the water!

Saw Froonie on E-bay today. I was surprised to see her for sale so quickly after completion of your restoration. What happened?

Was just about to post something too. Hope all is well, Brian. Froonie is a gorgeous boat and whoever gets her will be one lucky sailor.

Thanks all! I am sort of testing the waters on price / worth....of course, if the price was right! I am just starting a Westsail 32 (bare hull), but will have one to sail while I am working on another. My daughter is not yet taking to sailing, but she loves exploring the boat. Will most likely keep her...possibly repaint in the spring (sorry Skylar).

Happy Holidays to all!

Good to hear Brian...I was afraid some sort of catastrophe had befallen you! I look forward to hearing more about the Westsail, and of course seeing pictures. Now a *pink* Westsail would be quite a sight! A lot better than some other colors I've seen!

I love the lines on those Sea Sprites! Beautiful restoration - sweet-looking boat.

There is a sad specimen in the marina where I normally keep my boat. Although it looks abandoned and utterly unused, the marina owner told me that the owners are up-to-date on their slip fees - even though they never take it out or do anything with it. I just don't understand why someone would pay all that money to buy a boat and keep it in a slip, only to let it sit and accumulate mold, mildew, algea, shellfish, and bird poop.

But every time I walk past, I pause for a moment to admire the lines of that cute little boat - it just looks like it would make a really nice little camp cruiser.

I have this crazy urge to save every pretty old derelict boat I see...
