The launching of "MACUSHLA"

Postby Skipper599 » Tue Aug 18, 2015 3:44 am

Here's a link to a myriad of photo's of a lifelong dream. Since my retirement in 1999 I have suffered a number of health problems, such as a heart attack, the big C, and debilitating arthritis in the lower spine causing me severe mobility problems. Through it all, I have desperately attempted to complete a project I started many years ago. I'm pleased to report I've succeeded.
Google this link ... https://plus.google.com/ and then search for "MACUSHLA" by Corveric ... enjoy.
The boat was professionally surveyed for insurance purposes and valued at $185K replacement cost. It is a Passage 24 ... inspired by Tom Gillmer's "Blue Moon". It is 24'-6" lod plus a Bowsprit & a Boom-kin which gives her a 30' loa. She is Cutter rigged for ease of sail handling by older crew. She has a 30' stick on her w/11' boom. All running rigging blocks are Lewmar as are the winches. She'll make an excellent coastal cruiser. Here's the link: https://plus.google.com/

Just a little explanation:- Some of you may notice a discrepancy in the vessels name compared to my forum details.
Yes, I originally intended to call her Ros na Cosquin but changed my mind and named her "MACUSHLA"
Loosely translated from Irish Gaelic as "My Darling" or "My Loved One" or similar words of endearment such as I say to my wife of almost 60 years.
