Some warm memories of this past season on Maine coast.

Post by Tom Young »

We can't beat inner Blue Hill Harbor for a few days. For several years now, on the winds invitation, we've reached up the bay and anchored for a coulple of days of swimming and shoreside exploration. Image

Then there's Isle Au Haut, a place we try to get to every few years.(This is an enormous coast and impossible to cover in a season, or two, or three...)

And there's always Somes Sound, a place you can easily sail and explore for a few days. This shot of Christmas from the cliffs of Valley Cove.

Northeast Harbor. A good place to explore and hike. My favorite thing to do is watch the people. From pompous blue bloods to racous bikers, I like to sit and watch it all go by. Sailors are easy to spot, they're disheveled and alittle edgy like this family out of Rockport :>

All in all, looking back on a season on the coast of Maine, it's the sailing inbetween that was the most memorable. Image

Wow...I sure did miss cruising this year. It's funny how I didn't actively miss it (being so busy with the house that I hardly had time to think), but how much I realize I did miss it when I see photos like yours.

I can't wait for next season! I'm planning a month-long cruise.

Thanks, Tom!

There's a cold NE wind blowing in snow and sleet today in Lake Superior country, so your photos were most welcome.

Great photos, and gorgeous cruising grounds! I love the rugged shoreline and the evergreens. Perhaps next summer we'll get to the North Channel and cruise what appears to be a freshwater version of coastal Maine.
Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful stuff Tom! I hope to have time enough to get up there and see it after we are done at Block Island and the Cape next summer.

P.S. The dog really does look like its having a good time.

I keep thinking of this thread and these pictures as I'm getting closer to doing some family cruises myself. Great pics!

Tom, what kind of dog is that?
