When I clicked on this post, it took me to page 1 to start and of course the first entry is for "Mast Confusion". Although I had seen this many times, this evening for some reason I immediately wondered (and hoped) that she had more than one mast. Preferably, she's a gaff rigged schooner ...

She is a 31ft, 1970, Japan built Mariner Ketch, donated back when to the NY Seascouts.

I must find the Insanity Islands. It is where I belong (along with half the regulars here)

I've long been searching for some islands of sanity among this sea of insanity.

And I'm not even going to start looking for an inspired virgin...

Ha, Northstar, that's a good one. I think that's Donna Lange's Southern Cross 28 that she solo circumnavigated in. I wonder if she's ever noticed that about the name? Judging from a few of her logs she would probably get a laugh out of it. (I did, and it's before noon, when it takes more to make me laugh ;)

Omigawd, that's bloody awful.

I see some of these names and I think what kind of moron thinks that's a good idea? Do they honestly think these are clever or funny? Ugh.

I wonder how many of these owners truly thought of how they would sound trying to make a VHF call??
Let's see....

"Dramamine Dragon, Dramamine Dragon, Dramamine Dragon, this is....... Yadda, Yadda, Yadda, Yadda Yadda, Yadda, Yadda, Yadda, Yadda,.... OVER.

Try to say that in 30 seconds or less and still be understood.....

Worse than calling another pleasure boat.....imagine trying to ID your boat when calling the USCG!

These names may be terrible, but at least they're unusual and in some cases even mildly creative. What gets me most are the owners who give their boats completely uninspired, generic "boaty" names, "Sea Dog" etc. It seems like a lot of owners don't put a lot of thought into their boat's name.
