Talk about favorite or hated suppliers, recommend good materials or sources, or anything of the same ilk. This is also a good place to suggest unique ideas and innovations you may have come up with.

Rope, Cordage, Running Rigging

Done some analysis recently on prices etc and wanted to share with various groups

I was looking for about 700 ft of 5/16, 3/8 and 7/16 double braid for halyards and control lines on our Elite 32 and after a few practice splices had determined I can do the double braid eye splices myself (about 40 minutes per splice sat in the kitchen at home), so I determined to buy in bulk.

Tried the usual places - West Marine, Boat US, Sailnet, Defender etc -> Defender at this point looking to be best priced.

Then went online to ebay and also asked opinion of some other folks at another online sailing community that I frequent - here are three other providers to check out

also there's a guy called Vernon Boog on ebay with competitivelly priced line.

No affiliations or recommendations, all information provided at your risk. Caveat Emptor.

Myself - I just ordered 515ft of double braid from Binnacle - still waiting for their feedack to see if they could provide 150ft of the soft-spun "EZ-feel" line I want for my sheets.

I bought all my anchor rodes (4 of 'em) from Vernon Boog on Ebay. His Ebay Store is Knothead Rope Works.

I had a good experience buying from him, and the lines were (and are) excellent. He packaged them all together and shipped them in one box to save shipping costs.
