Months ago, I ordered a silly tool: a Ryobi 18V cordless caulking gun. Thanks to some terrible customer service and out-of-stock nonavailability, I didn't receive the gun until quite recently--and didn't receive some other tools (including the necessary battery pack) at all.
In any event, I finally procured a battery pack for this tool, and used it today for the first time. It was rather impressive and fun to use, and certainly convenient. As suspected, it's quite easy to overapply the product, but there's a handy output regulator to help properly meter the product, and with only a couple feet worth of practice, it was a cinch to use.
I used it to apply beads of 3M 101 polysulfide, which is generally fairly easy flowing. I'll be interested to see how the tool handles the incredibly stiff 5200, but I don't have a need for that in the foreseeable future.
The caulking gun is huge, but ergonomic. And the product flow stops instantly when the trigger is released. In any case, I liked it, and it sure is easier on the hands!
OK, it's pretty cool.

It's a 1959 Crosby Striper that belongs to a customer.Figment wrote:Ok, mister, if you think you're going to get away without identifying the boat in the background you're out of your friggin mind!!!.
No. I'm not working on the hull.bcooke wrote:Neat tool but are you using it on that planking in the background?
And to think I almost returned it in a red rage, just to spite the supplier.Peter wrote:I knew you'd love it!
It'll come in handy when I build my log home next year, too. Over 300 tubes of Sikaflex to be dispensed...
