Re: CAL 34 MK III... Classic lines or not?
I am voting yes, but the big blue "cal stripe" below the rubrail distorts the look a bit. I am personally in love with a Cal 39 that has been for sale around here forever. Part of the attraction has been that she is painted a gorgeous red, and does not say "Cal Boat" all over.
I think you should post a picture of YOUR boat so everyone can get a sense of what she looks like.

Re: CAL 34 MK III... Classic lines or not?
I've seen the "Red" Cal for sale....Nice. very red.
I've sailed many thousands of miles on Cals since the early 1970's...Cal 25, Cal 33 (late 80's), Cal 2-30 (a very nice saiing boat) and Cal 39.
That said, Cal makes a great boat. If we are looking at "classic" IE: Atkin, Herreshoff, ect Cal is a "no-go". If we want to look at "classic" from the standpoint of innovation (fin keel/spade rudder) and a nice sailing package Cal is a GREAT boat. The made a ton of boats...they are usually a good value & they all sail Real Nice. One brother has a Cal 39 - we sailed it Norfolk Va to Puerto Rico - 10 days - 2 days in gale conditions....That boat will go anywhere....safely. A Powerful rig, a nice hull shape, very forgiving off-shore & a great "coastal" weeekend boat. Another brother has a late model, Hunt designed, Cal 28. Another wonderful boat - easy & fun to sail ( you can single-hand - no problem) & has a lot of room for the size - fit-up is 1st class. The Hunt designed Cals were expensive when new & have good upper-mid end amenities. All hardware is excellent.
So classic lines???? Not sure...Good sailing/good value? Yep.
