Free 23' Classic Plastic, Will Deilver

I am trying to find a home for a 1969 Glanders 23' daysailer/pocket cruiser. The boat is very similar in appearance to a Hereshoff H23 Prudence[at least on deck anyway]. The deck is wood framed and sheathed with 1/2" plywood then covered with a light glass cloth, most of the deck needs to be replaced. The hull is a heavy solid glass and does have some blister problems. The boat is complete with all rigging and sails but has no motor and no trailer.
The boat is currently on a trailer in Annapolis and I would be willing to deliver it anywere within a few hundred miles for the cost of fuel.
I have some recent pictures that I will post if I can figure out how. Maybe someone can help?

As an aside: I think CharlieJ from this forum may have visited the Glander factory at some point - I seem to remember him talking about that. They made a Tavana 33 as well as the Cay 23.

Rachel,Thanks for the links I will work on getting some photos posted as soon as possible. It looks to me that the Glander Cay is probably the same hull as the boat I have but mine has a much much smaller trunk and a much larger cockpit. In fact, I would not be suprised if this boat has been modified in much the same way as Tim's daysailer conversion, the construction of the deck and the way it is joined to the hull is remarkably similar.

Allen, The boat is currently sitting on a brand new aluminum trailer that I just purchased for one of my power boats, so I don't think that it would be a good option for this boat. I do have a another possible trailer option if somone was really interested or I could help arange a new trailer set-up. I would like to see if someone closer is interested fist, but please follow this thread if your friend turns out to be interested.

I'll be interested to see the photos - especially since it's not a Cay (or it's a modified one).

Two tips on the photo posting:

1) The "address" that you paste in to put the image tags on here needs to end in ".jpg" See if you can find something at your photo hosting site that does that. Oftentimes if you right click on a hosted image and then select "properties" you will find that.

2) Once you've written your post, hit "preview" instead of "submit." What you see then will be what would show up in the forum if you hit "submit," so if there's no photo then, there won't be one if you post (without changing something).

Hi David,

I hope you find a good home for her. It's a shame these beautiful classic boats can sit there waste away. Too bad the couple folks I know on the west coast and I are up to our ears with our projects already. The only other person I can think of that could have an interest is Robert The Gray who recently sold his Triton. It will be great if Robert will take her for he is such a clever craftsman.

I really like her shear and bowsprit which is similar to the Cape Dorys' sprits. I have wondered for a long time if adding a short sprit will correct Tritons' weatherhelm issue. I am waiting for Tim to take the plunge first :-) and see how that works out. Another Triton #17 also added a short sprit but too bad its owner did not report how that effect the helm balance except to say that in light air the balance is better.

I think I have found a new home for this great little boat. Here it is getting repositioned on the trailer for the trip from Annapolis to Carlisle. I will post again after the trip if all goes well.
