Another "What is this?"
Can someone identify this boat for me?
Thanks,
Joe
Thanks,
Joe
It looks a little bit like a Charley Morgan 38, except I thought those had a slight reverse transom, and the one on the boat you pictured looks like a traditional transom. Some other details don't look quite the same either; however I'm not familiar enough with them to know what sort of variations (if any) there were over their run.

Any Idea What This Is?
I can't figure this one out....it is a nice little boat with a transom hung rudder...I would say between 26-28 ft overall...Ideas?

Transom-hung rudder? Gotta be a Trintella 29. Sure looks like one, but the ports don't seem right. They aren't that common here in California (although we have two here in Santa Barbara) but seem to be a cult boat in the UK. The one I've been on was beautiful. Not much info on the web about these boats. I know they are Dutch-built, there are at least two variants (one of which has a keel-hung rudder), and about 200 were made. Hmm, maybe, maybe not.

All of the Trintella 29's I could find had attached rudders - beautiful boats, but not transom-hung. Here are a couple of similar boats, but none seem to have the right ports:

Cheoy Lee 27:

Great Dane 28:

And I'm sure there are more - the folkboat has spawned many designs over the years, most of them lovely. One of the sites linked to above (the second site for the Halcyon 27) is great fun to drift through - it's British, where they have a more developed love of small seaworthy boats than we do over here, and it's just there to provide information on boats, as part of a broker's site. The boats aren't for sale, but you can find out about them nonetheless. Nice place to visit: http://www.yachtsnet.co.uk/archives.htm
Not sure we're any closer to guessing what the boat is, though!

I'm pretty sure this boat was designed and built by the original (and possibly current) owner. This boat is in Sausalito, right? I had a boat in the same harbor 20 years ago and she was there then. Don't know/can't remember the name of the guy. But she looks even better in person, a real sea boat. If I'm right about the boat, then she's a 'one-of-a-kind'.

I think I stumbled on the answer by accident while browsing the Great Dane 28 site: it looks like it is very likely a Sagitta 30: http://www.sckruger.dk/Contacts%20to%20 ... owners.htm. This one is a similar view to the original post: http://www.sckruger.dk/GE1.jpg.

Another "What is this?"
There are pictures of the SF Bay one for sale on the Norpac Yachts web site. Beautiful boats, but I'm a little disappointed with the interior layout...not a fan of in-line galleys.
Obviously my info that the Sausalito boat was designed and built by the owner was completely wrong. I'm sure it's the same boat, but given wrong info.

International 1006--Also known as an O.L. 33
I have been looking for info online about this Sailboat and have found very little...It is called an International 1006--as well as an O.L. 33. Built in Denmark by Arne Borghegn...roughly 50 in the world I believe. Flush Deck w/ a beautiful interior... Has anyone heard of this type of sailboat? More info would be great!
Thanks

I know nothing - but there is raised doghouse version as well: http://www.boatshop24.com/web/en/werfte ... 918942.htm.
And here's a list of people who could tell you about them - although you might need to speak their language:
http://www.udkik.dk/app/ownerlist.jsp?l=I
This is interesting: http://www.ott-yacht.de/en/main/produkte.html - they produce the O.L. Boats H-boat (a design I've admired as the Artekno H-boat) as well as the Aphrodite 101 which I've seen admired in these parts recently. They definitely seem to like narrow boats. Nice.
Not much information here:
http://www.udkik.dk/app/shopshow.jsp?id=yacht60 - I don't think O.L.Boats has a website, saw another reference to them with just an email address, but I get the feeling that they're still in business in some limited capacity.
More info on the H-boats: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H-boat

International in 1006
Here's a translation:
The boat was designed in 1977 by the Danish designer Arne Borg Fences.
International in 1006 came at a time when the long slender 10 metere was up in time in Denmark, for example BB10m, Molich 10m, Ylva, Scancap 99 Aphrodite 101 Boheme Caravels 10m and 10m.
International 1006 is very close to Jan Kjærulf and Poul Elvstrøms Aphrodite 101 1006'eren is slightly wider, has slightly higher freeboard and more veldimensioneret, especially the stronger the rig, the mast is at the keel and the boat has double Salling.
Accommodation, built in mahogany, is more sophisticated and functional than 101'erens with galley in SB and navigation space in BB side.
The hull and deck are built as sandwich balsatræ as distance material.
The boat is a flush deck, making it very elegant and gives a fantastic good deck to work on. It goes somewhat beyond Headroom for shelter.
The boat is very well balanced and stable direction and still respond immediately to the helm. It can be steered with two fingers even in the air to fresh wind. It is perhaps a slightly lægerrig in very light air.
The boat was built OL Boats in Ringsted. In total, built around 40 International 1006, so the class is not great.

Fascinating boat, that International 1006/O.L. 33. I didn't know about them!
I love those 10 meter sailboats - narrow, deep draft, no standing headroom, half of the weight in the keel itself. Best known example would be the Aphrodite 101. The Tartan Ten was supposedly inspired by it.
There is one other little known 10 metre sailboat that I have had a hard time finding info. Its the Abbott 33, built in Canada. Only the manufacturer website and one sailboat data website has any decent info. If anyone has more info on the Abbott 33, I'll like to know...

Yes, the Abbott 33 fits in with those boats nicely, doesn't it. Hadn't thought of it. They're evidently great boats - I haven't sailed on one, but have owned and sailed extensively on an Abbott 22, so I can vouch for the manufacturer. The 22 was a minor miracle, somehow having both a large cockpit and a large cabin in 22 feet, and being a joy to sail - she'd stay ahead of almost anything under 28 feet, and lots over as well. Handled like a dinghy, with a light finger on the tiller.
But that's the 22. I've seen a few things written about the 33, and would have been very interested in finding one if they had standing headroom. Here's what I've seen:
http://peter.deppisch.googlepages.com/abbott33
One for sale (been on the market for some time now):
http://www.angusyachts.com/used_sail_bo ... &cdollar=1
An owner's association contact from Good Old Boat:

Harold Hoffman
2124 Tanglewood Dr.
Toledo, OH 43614
USA
419-367-2109 (daytime)
hoffman@novusbldg.com (Harold Hoffman)
And I can't seem to find the review of the 33 that used to be up - if it crops up again, part of the text was "Hey.... Abbott" but googling that doesn't bring anything up. Lots of hits for people racing them, or discussing how their father or uncle used to own one, etc.
I'm not sure that's more than you already had. They're great boats, though, with a great reputation!

Nope... no headroom. From the little data I have, headroom is around 5'3" or 1.6m. The Abbott 33 ad went on about Herreshoff saying if you want standing headroom, go out in the cockpit...Chris Campbell wrote: But that's the 22. The galley and the nav table is positioned just nicely so that you can stand up easily - the companionway slide is right there.
Thank for the links, I did not come across some of those links.
EDIT: I checked the first link, I got the same ad somewhere else. I made an error - Headroom is 5'2", not 5'3...

Yet Another...What is that boat?
Here is another one...I'm interested in what type of boat this is....
I know the boat in the background is a Cal 40....but what is the other boat? Some French Design? Yes Rachel....my new 1006 has a bit more Non-Standing Headroom....So I am currently saving up for my back up Jacket :)

The Cal 40 in the background: "Swell" I'm generally pretty glad I'm me, and manage to keep the seven vices at bay, but Liz's blogs are one of the few that make me turn a bit green and wonder where I went wrong. And if there's any way to go back and be her. <lol>
For those who aren't familiar with her, she's a smart, strong, resourceful, cute, fearless, blonde, athletic surfer - and talented writer - who decided she wanted to sail and surf her way around the world, found a connection who would give her a Cal 40, improved it and fitted it out with blood, sweat, and tears (and some nice goodies), and has now been cruising and surfing for a couple of years, currently in Tahiti (she left from Santa Barbara, CA) (yes of course she was on the surf team in college).
This link points to the latest blog:

I feel like she mentioned the boat you're interested in at one point, but I can't remember if she identified what model it is.

No...That isn't mine :) I do follow "Swells" adventures though... Still no idea what that other boat is? Took the O.L. 33 out the other day....in very little wind....she was just skipping along...I could get used to this :) Hauling out next week...dealing with a Sail drive for the first time...Any advice?
