Auction mistitled. Should read: Hardware for salvage! (attached firewood included)

Tell me that's not the mast.
This is one of the last remaining Herreshoff's on the planet
1. um..... no, not really.
2. Stretching the definition of "remaining".

I love ebay!

What truly gets me is the price. That should be a 99 cent auction. Maybe, just maybe some crazy lunatic would find a way to put her back together again if she was free.

Quote -(Complete set of sails damaged in fire for pattern only.)

Yeah, . . thanks - but we would need to use the tape measure for this one.

Amazing what a little time and even less money will do for a boat.

Wake Up!

"Storage fees after 60 days implied".

I think they meant something else.

Gee, it only needs new frames, decking, fasteners, planking, sails, rigging, engine, centerboard, rudder, and interior. Sounds like a bargain to me. I can't believe there isn't already a bidding war underway.

(And to top it off, it's not a particularly attractive boat. And certainly not one of the "last remaining Herreshoff's [sic] on the planet".)

Finish pictures for reference only this vessel needs a total restoration.
At least it comes with pictures of what it could look like. How nice of them.

Okay, with all the amusing comments, I finally had to go look.

$20,000 for a starting bid does seem just a shade high.

Jeeze guys! Let's not be so harsh. The owner has obviously loved this boat and is having a difficult time parting with it!

I think "loved" is a pretty strong word judging by the condition of the craft. A more appropriate replacement might be "sat on" as in "The owner has obviously sat on this boat and is having a difficult time parting with it!"

Might be some salvageable wood in that pile if someone was restoring a woodie... not for 20 grand though...

If I may, let me just add... ;)
...to the previous remark.

I second the 'not very attractive' comment.

That stubby mast looks terrible and maybe the picture is bad but the sheer line looks wavy to me. I am a little dissapointed in Captain Nat. I guess we all have our bad days.

That wreck is only good for toasting marshmellows and scavaging the hardware.

Scavaging = Salvaging + Scavenging. I like it!

Hmm... about an hour down the road. Gonna see if I can go poke around.

Pretty sure the pictures smell like rotten wood though.
