John Alden's Q-Class Sloop Hope

Post by Bluenose »

I have been spending buku amounts of time researching old designs to get a feel for what Bolero will become. This has been some of the most enjoyable research hours that I have ever spent. There is just something about classic yacht design that just seems right to me. But occasionally I run across poetry on the water. Here is a piece of John Alden's art.

When I look at boats like this, I am kind of glad that I don't have real money. The temptation might be too great.

Dennis Connor's Cotton Blossom II is also a Q-class (Q5), though from the designer Johan Anker.

That is exactly my point. See what kind of trouble money can get you into. I also expect boats like this would be very hard on marriages.

Tim, It is pretty hard to not like her colors. And is that the flag vision you had for Bolero?

Conner's boat

Post by WayneS »

I saw Cotton Blossom II on a trailer some months ago. It was easy to see why Conner likes it, and put the considerable funds into it that were most likely required to get it to its present state. It is a genuinely beautiful boat, above and below the waterline.

I hadn't known it was a Q class sloop.
