Happy Haulout Day!

It's never really a "happy day", is it Tim? I think you're going to come as close as any this year, once you factor in the milestone of getting the boats moved into the barn.

Ahhhrr, she's a palace! (my best pirate voice) A true palace indeed! No Triton could want a lovelier spot for winter's slumber! The envy of the seven seas!

Aye, shiver me timbers.

You'll have to bear with me, since my camera chose today to go on the fritz. As a result, I don't have a photo yet of the two boats inside the barn.

Before the camera quit (for the third time in a day--junk), I managed to snap a couple pictures of Glissando in the barn alone.

And a closer shot...

I hope to figure this camera out and get some shots of both boats in the near future. The continuity of two websites hangs in the balance...

For now, suffice it to say that both the Daysailor and Glissando fit very nicely inside the barn, with plenty of elbow room. I'm still not used to this luxury! I had to fight the urge to close up all the hatches and such on the boat before leaving.

Awesome. I'm thrilled. Thanks to all for your continuing interest and support!

um..... yesterday was a strange day. I'm not sure where that whole "pirate" thing came from.

Anyway, Glissando looks happy in her new digs...... see how the forward portlight kinda looks like one eye, and the bootstripe like a smile?

Ok, so today's a strange day too. What can I say? I'm on a roll.

Ahem, ah, Mike...have you considered that maybe it's not the day that's strange?

Armed with my old, semi-functional camera, I took a few pictures of both boats inside the barn.

Yup. It looks just plain silly over there with three boats, doesn't it?

Got the trim up for the track, huh?

'nuther one?

Hey Tim....
I don't know if you noticed, but there's another Triton sneakin' up on yer shed. Looks like a party.

Figured it out.
Nice spot to throw a tarp over Dasein....few dozen 20p nails to hold the top edge to the barn.........

It's a Triton Par-Tay. Think I'll have to turn the whole back yard into boat storage next.
dasein668 wrote:It looks just plain silly over there with three boats, doesn't it?
Actually, I like it. And only one boat (yours) will be visible once the weather gets cold enough and the doors remain shut, anyway.

Oh, Nathan: you don't mind, do you? I didn't know what to do with that nasty bucket of antifouling-tainted water from scrubbing our bottoms (that doesn't sound good...), so I just poured it into your bilge. OK? ;<P

Speaking of cold, the barn now has heat! I installed the oil tank yesterday, K-1 delivered today, and heat test was successful. Bring on the cold, snow, and ice.
dasein668 wrote:Got the trim up for the track, huh?
Yup. Got that up yesterday afternoon. On the side, too. And put in door weatherstripping and most of the trim on the back windows. This just about completes all construction work. Phew.

In further news, I began painting today. (Yuck) Got the front gable done in a few hours--man, this building is big. The good news is that I think one coat might be sufficient. (Keep your fingers crossed).

I'm freakin' exhausted. But time is of the essence: I must finish painting ASAP so as to beat the cold weather. No rest for the wicked...

Hope you don't run afoul of the zoning laws. All it takes is one former Mass. resident living next door to ruin yer good thang.

Hey Tim, we are going to toss a tarp over my boat when we paint that side, right? hehe.

I have one that'd be suitable here at the house... lemme know!

Zoning? No such worries in this town. Independent Mainers don't take this stuff lightly. There have actually been recent cases, in more densly populated communities nearby, where challenges to boats in backyards have been snuffed out. But in most rural areas, home-based businesses, storage, and outbuildings are as common as not.
Image
That said, I have no intention of my backyard turning into some form of ridiculousness anyway.

And Nathan, fear not: no boats will be harmed in the painting of this barn. (Give me some credit, will ya? :<) hehe )

If you already have an appropriate tarp, bring it by next time. I have tarps, but none, as of yet, are paint-splattered.

I probably won't even try to do the upper part of that wall while the boat's there, though. No room for a ladder. Putting up that door trim was tricky enough.

Ah, yes. None of my tarps are paint-splattered either. I just meant that I had the big one I've been using for covering my boat in the winter. I will bring it by soon though!

It just looks too Triton-friendly and nurturing...soon you shall have a flock of 12!

It just isn't scary-looking enough in there, even the gutted #100 hull looks safe and happy.

Conversely, other Triton in our local yard has packed itself on a trailer and is running away to Idaho after getting a peek at what happens to sweet helpless Tritons in MOrgaNSTERn's BOATSHED 50 feet from its' storage spot.<G>

Dear Dave,
The use of 'its' in the possessive requires no apostrophe to show possession. It's fine without its helper. hehehehe
Major grammerical fow pah. One demerit.
That barn is cool! (obligatory reference)

More boats???

Post by Wife of Tim »

Guys - please -

I'm quite the understanding wife, but you really don't need to be encouraging him to put more boats in the yard!!! :)

(Actually, I don't really care, but I have to make the token wife complaint every so often just to remind him how good he has it!). LOL!!

Oh no - the anti-wife has reared her ugly (not literal) face.

And I thought you were going after the grammar post.

Anyway, no need for the use of scare tactics (Casinos NO) to keep a bunch of boats out of your back yard. I'm sure there are other, more Effective ways (proper use of the e/a ffect there, Heidi?).

Hi Heidi,

We didn't meet when I was invited up by your husband a couple weeks ago and I definitely feel the less because of it. I distinctly remember Tim telling me that the barn was actually YOUR idea. Seems he had the dreams but not the guts to actually go ahead and build it. As he tells it, it was you that told him to go and build it (and it is now the ultimate in big boy toyboxes).

That, dear woman, goes well beyond an "understanding" wife and into the realm of the Gods. Do you have any single sisters?
