Simple hatch glass re-glueing

Post by pjesus »

Hi folks.

First of all, I hope I'm not asking something that has already been answered. I did search...

I've got a hatch with a small leak that I've identified as being in the acrylic/aluminum joint.

So I guess I will need to remove the acrylic and re-glue it to the aluminum frame.
I'm thinking of using Sika Flex 295 UV for glueing and either Sika Primer 209 or 210 to prime the acrylic before.

So, some questions:
- Do I need the primer at all?
- What do you guys think it's the best combination?
- How long should the primer dry? I read something like 30 minutes...

Thanks in advance,

Tiago

Other choices are Dow 795 or GE SG-4000. http://www.selectplastics.com/index.php ... lants.html

Thanks. I guess cutting the primer isn't an option. And since I already have the 295 that's probably the way to go...

Catching up on old threads, so that people looking for info don't find half-threads...

I did go with the Sika primer and Sikaflex 295UV, no more leaking :)

Just make sure you degrease and mask everything really well beforehand...
