I've been dreading asking this question thinking I already know the answer...but is there any way to fix/remover a high temp burn/stain on a stainless stove?

WOW thanks I will give the works a try as soon as I can get out and get a bottle, Funny thing is we just went thru 2 bottles of The Works cleaning the rest of the boat with great resalts but never thought about trying it on the stove. I will post how it works soon.

As I was digging thru the cleaning suppies I found a bottle of The Works with just enough cleaner to do the job, and what a great job it did.

There are only two acids that will actually passivated SS, Nitric, which you can't easily get, or citric acid.

Please be careful with strong acids like muriatic, oxalic etc. as they can leave a dull finish on the SS that will tarnish/rust significantly faster than if you use a passivating acid like citric.

Perhaps the best form of passivating SS cleaner I have found is Spotless Stainless. It works like a charm and leaves a bright shiny finish which resists re-rusting better than anything else I've tried. It is a thick gel and simply works and does what it says it does...

I have been using Wichinox with great success. Since it is made by Wichart and claims to passivate, I gave it a try. It works ten time better than anything I have tried, but now I also have a new product to try for general cleaning. Thanks

I tried the Spotless stainless first but even the Rep at the Miami sail show said it wouldn't work on a high heat stain. I have noticed the stove top has dulled so I'm going to try the Spotless Sainless now the stain is gone.

I tried "The Works" on my stove top and am certainly impressed with the results. Next will be the Magma BBQ grill. Thanks for the tip. :-)

LOL It works well on the grills also. I thought ours was a gonner as far as looks go but it took away the burned look.It does leave a brownish residue that takes a few wipes to get off.
