yeah the non-skid bead works good, the above poster has used sand as well. Try test piece and see what you think, see what looks and works best for you.

Yes this is exterior and we are using flagship varnish 2015, in the last coat we will add some clear non-skid beads to the mix, if you do it in everycoat it will make the finish foggy even if the company selling says it won't. with the last coat with non-skid its still a nice clear smooth finish, an...

Sorry...I am building a new SOLE for our boat...wow, Its being varnished, we are in the great lakes so out boat is in the barn for 6mo out of the year and the other 6mo its under dodger/bimini, the varnish does not take the much work, and looks great.

thats the thing I did a carb rebuild kit and still happend. Thats when moyer marine recomended I take and check the float level.

Do you think the crank case vent is the issue with my CO2 detector going off, since i can't see or hear a actual exhaust leak?

where do I find exhaust hose and what kind. can i look for a leak using soapy water before the water warms ups, I don't hear any leaks like you do when there is a hole in your car muffler?

The bottom paint is VC17 and its supposed to be blue but i guess its the copper color tell it comes in contact with the water and then it changes to blue, or so i have been told. Yeah we were 1 of 5 at the marina, but we had to take the first launch date we could get or wait tell everyone elese is done, i was egar and took the first time we could get.

The boat is about 5' from the wall. We got it all on over the weekend we could no take a picture from the starborad side, there is Ag Chem Sprayer (large piece of farm equipment) parked next to the boat making it had to take pictures from the side.

Installed Teak Toerail & Cockpit Seats

This weekend we installed our teak toerail and teak cockpit seats. Both came out great, the toerail was installed with the 3M 5200 and the teak seats were installed using west system epoxy with filler and black graphite. I just talked to Tom from Midwest Industrial Coatings (my awlgrip dealer) he suggested using awlprep to clean the 5200 off and it won't harm the paint.

We will be dealing with it on our awlgrip snow white topcoat. do you think we should use tape to protect the paint, or just clean up imediatly with acetone. are there any chemicals i need to worry about that would damge the topcoat?

We ended up using Zspar varnish for out wood work. I had talked to Tim about what to use. And tips in what kind of cleaner to use when the 5200 or the 101 comes out of the toerail when installed, what ever works best to get it off the paint and the varnish. Thanks.

ok so we will varnish first. I was going to use the 5200 cause we are only using screws since thru bolting is not possible. But if you think 3M101 will work best we will go with that. Yeah there is a fill, sending unit, vent, return, and a spot if we or someone eles wanted to add a generator (for noe it will just be pluged). Its a crazy shapped tank but we water tested it and it held 29 gallons.

I like you thinking but I just drew it up and a 1x5 oval has about 4 sq in of area where as a 4" circle has about 12 sq in. so there is alot less volume.

How wide of a roller are you using Tim? I would do my first coat saturday and next on sunday, I can do half at a time if nessary, just make the project take 2 weekends instead of 1, since we are 2 hrs from the boat.
