A good vacuum represents about 30ft of water column - even if the pool experiment didn't push water in the bag, you would have had to have a fairly deep pool to make it effective. But kudos for the thought!

Sounds very high - 35psi is more of a norm for SUV's - some go lower to improve ride comfort (less "trucky") Ford Explorer got in trouble over recommending 25psi, resulting in tire blow-outs, for which Firestone got the blame.... Anyway, on the inside panel of one of the doors should be a ...

There are only personal preferences - the key to doing good for the engine is to pick one and stick with it - changing oils (MFG) from service to sevice is worse for the engine than sticking with a single, even a "nonpreferred", oil. The thought here is that different makers use different ...

When you say it has cupped, is this something recent? Wood works all the time and if it started cupping, this may be due to the conditions it is or has been seeing. If it has been stored on its side the exposed top side may have dried (faster) than the bottom and cupping may have occurred. If the bo...

Both batteries will see the charging voltage of around 15V - the battery that is weakest will allow the most flow, splitting what is available, i.e. the 70A max. A bad battery would "take" the 15V without allowing too much flow to it; a good battery will accept more current. Picture a grav...

As others eluded to, keep the rim above the anticipated water line at rest. I have gotten onto my boat after a few days away and have found the head filled to the rim on several occasions, after I forgot to close the intake, just as you will forget. Mine is within about 1/2" of the waterline an...

Yes, bitts are the vertical posts that allow for dock line ect. to be attached to. They also support the for/aft movement of the bowsprit. They take quite some shock loads I would assume hence my question. Everwhere else in the manual states using bedding compound, but for this specific part they w...

If I were in your situation, I would buy two gallons of two part barrier paint and apply until gone - giving some extra to high wear areas - then bottom paint and splash.

Re: Do I have this Right?
Common practice is to put 5 or more (some say 7) coats of barrier, but that is to prevent blisters from developing on more modern, new-age gelcoat. Your hull is aged (like mine) and if it has none to date, I would not wast time and money building to the recommended mills on the cans... Two coats of ...

The simplest answer is that when going to wind, one sets the jib first to where it is full and just "in" from luffing - i.e. once on course, let the jib out to where the leech starts luffing, or "flagging" and pull it in just enough to get it to stay full and smooth. Second you d...

Re: Blooper?
Bloopers were a fad of the late 70s and early 80s. They flew wing and wing with the spinnaker for dead down wind. Then it dawned on racers and designers that a good spinnaker used on broad reaches tacking down wind was faster. They look cool though, especially if color coordinated with the spinnake...
