Re: Trailer needed for a Santana 525
Thanks David. I will try that. Actually I have seen a few ads on Craigslist. I guess I have a number of options.

Trailer needed for a Santana 525
I am in the process of purchasing a Santana 525. It's in California and I live in British Columbia. I need a trailer. These boats are similar to the Martin 242 or the J/24. The same or similar trailers work for all I am told. The boat is 24' 7" long over all. It's 2,400 lbs, but actual travel w...

transport La Paz to Vancouver, Canada
I have found a nice (rare) classic in Mexico. She need lots of attention to get her back to her former glory. What is the least expensive way to transport a boat from La Paz to Vancouver, Canada. Has anyone here done this?

Jumping the gun
I say bonehead because the addition of teak decks really introduces the possibilities for leaks. I certainly agree that teak looks wonderful when done properly and maintained properly. But in the case of this boat the application is somewhat amateurish. So the chances of water intrusion is very high...

repairing balsa cored decks
I am sure this has been asked before many times. But I don't see any references here so I'm going to ask for information about replacement or repair of balsa cores. I'm looking a boat built in 1979 to Lloyds specs. Beautiful, true Classic Plastic. But unfortunately some bonehead added teak decks to ...

Very nice. That's NOT what the one I'm looking at that's for sure. But as you said. That level of finish takes years.

Okay, a partial
okay, maybe not rip out everything, but build a more modern "finished" interior. I muse at the thought of taking the finish off the mahogany to bare wood and vacuum bonding something like birds-eye maple veneer. Update the lighting and yes, putting in a headliner. Still a lot of work.

Point made
I must agree with both replies. Not having done this before, I have the feeling it's a lot like doing a house renovation. It grows and grows and grows. Let me see if I can grab some pictures and post them.

Gutting and building interiors
Any body have experience rebuilding the interior of a boat. There is a Reliance 44 in my area that may have good bones but the interior was owner finished and it's not exactly shipwright quality. I have very mixed feeling about this. In one way it may be more work than just building an interior. Fir...

It's in Vancouver. But I don't think it could be your brother's. I believe it is being sold by a women. I think she's widowed. Is you brother still with us?

Reliance 44 cutter ketch
Any one know anything about the Reliance 44? I can find very little about this on the net. This has to qualify as a Classic Plastic. To eye, she has beautiful lines. I'm a sucker for a good looking girl.
Also seems to be in the right size range.

I want one
Noah, I want one. How many of those were built? How do I find the same deal? There is something about that boat that really tugs at the heart strings. Yes I suppose a person could argue that it's not that practical. But just look at it. I guy has to wonder what a boat like this is like at sea? Could...

Pacific Northwest and Western Canada
Sorry Peter, I don't agree. When ever I see a Classic Plastic, the type I would like to take on as a project boat. Their always in the East. As for Europe, the prices seem much higher. I'm not saying this from extensive knowledge. I have compared prices of the Contessa 32 in the U.K. and here. We ar...

Are these the same boat? I have googled the CT-34 but I'm not getting anything when I google CT-37?
The CT-34 is a beauty I was hoping the 37 was a scaled up version?

Yes, I consider the Contessa 26 a Classic Plastic. It's just too small for me to get too excited about. But I do agree with you.

Newbie here; List of Classic Plastic?
Really glad to find this forum. I love Classic Plastic and I'm a bit shocked their is a site like this dedicated to it. Has anyone listed the boats that are considered Classic Plastic? I know some boats will be a matter of opinion but I'm sure there are many boats that most of us would agree complet...
