West system and glass?

Hey again everyone, This is a "discussion" I've had with a few different yard guys. It seems West (or Gougon) stresses using their epoxy only with their "epiglass" or whatever. They say West epoxy doesn't bind with regular glass. I've done samples on old plywood with different ty...

engine

It's in the boat right now, but I'm plannig on pulling it and putting it on a stand. Not planning on dissasembling. I'm thinking about converting the aft portion of my bilge into diesel tank and figure if I do I might as well clean the engine up and get some better protection (paint) on it.

1967 Soverel 36R

Oh well, I'll just re-post it. I have been holding off posting pics of my "Wanderer" until I had her lookin prettier, but Rich's "Incedent" motivated me to go ahead and get started. Rich, I love the Soverel's. Built like tanks but IMHO, as good looking as boats get, and they sail...

Walsted

Thanks for the examples all. Unfortunately the yachtworld listing on that last Walsted just irks the hell out of me and I can't even remember what my post was about. Did anyone go through all the photos? It's obviously a beautiful boat. But I'd shoot that broker if that was my boat that I was paying...

Wow!

That is sharp. I have to admit that I feel like I'm in a twighlight zone thing. I work in a boatyard (old, pretty well established) and have to have been in hundreds of discussions for many years here and elsewhere on varnishes, IE cetol vs higher end varnishes etc. But for some reason only today, a...

Galley countertops?

The galley was gutted when I got her and sadly enough, for 2 years she's been sailing with particle board from a discarded entertainment center. It's been functional and with more than enough other priority projects hasn't killed me. I do keep my eyes open for any nice wood, but nothing cheaply atta...

somewhat of an edit!

Marshall, I hope you didn't take any of that as insult. I give myself that same soapbox speach almost every project I start! And in reality, we'd be idiots if we didn't at least look for a better way on alot of things. Unfortunately, with boats, there is no easier softer way. And of course, it's all...

He's not just in the "misery loves company" mode!

I work at a boatyard as well. Not affiliated with Tim but rather in Wisconsin on Lake Michigan. I have to say that some of the best money made by marinas is from boat owners who did their own "half ass" repairs trying to save time/money. THAT ALWAYS CAUSES MORE PROBLEMS! Not to say that an...

Cheoy Lee 36 at $1,500.00!

Maybe it's a good thing I'm not on the coast or I have no doubt this'd be sitting in my yard as well. 0 bidders so far. http://i24.ebayimg.com/03/i/001/10/87/2244_1.JPG http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching&viewitem=&item=260300370310&_trks...

Chainplates - Source?

Anyone have a good source for stainless 316 chainplates? Schaeffer has some but limited sizing.

Thanks,
Joe
