The lazy guide to boat renovation

Figure somebody buys an old boat. Everything works, but everything on the boat could use some attention. Where do you begin? They can't do it all at once. Instead, they can only devote 4-6 weekends a year to boat work, part of which is eaten up by ordinary yearly maintenance. They're not crossing Oc...

Our Hero

Albert Einstein loved to sail. He was a bit absent minded, and required rescue from time to time.

He called one of his boats "Tinef" which is Yiddish for "junk."

I guess there's always a chance some "by the books" surveyor might have a problem, even though you can't get a more foolproof drain than that.

The sidedeck drains on the Pearson Ariel and Commander are routed directly overboard. No seacock or anything, just a formed tube leading to a hole. I think its fine since these drains are just for getting rid of standing water on deck You can see part of one to the left in this picture http://pearso...

There seems to be two different techniques for laying up fiberglass for tabbing, etc. One is to start with a narrow width and overlap with larger ones. For example, 3" tape, then 6" then 8" That's what I've always done. Seems like it would give a more redundant attachment. The other m...
