I want a loose footed main too. So how old would the current mainsail have to be before you could rationalize the "need" for a new one.

I strap Bolero almost as well as Tim did for her cross county trip for her twice a year 2 mile trip to the travel lift.
We live in a pretty small community so I find it best not to add reasons to make the front page of the local rag.

Should I ever be forced to careen Bolero again (and I certainly hope not) I would choose the spinnaker halyard over the main halyard. I thought these little pyramids were a nifty idea so I ponied up for a set. I still use them but I am not overwhelmed. Turns out that varnished wood is quite slippery and tends to move. This adds a degree of difficulty to varnishing that I am not quite ready for.
