Marion-Berumuda
Just got back in from trying to watch the start. 4-6 foot seas coming out of Marion. (I was in my stinkpot) 35 knot winds at the first start. Gotta love Buzzards Bay. check out the race at http://www.iboattrack.com

Re: J/24 For Mom
Vermiculite? My initial answer is no. I just removed the ice from the bilge yesterday. The bilge is completely glassed with a 4 x 6 inch bilge sump behind the lifting strap. In my research It appears that some of the first boats were spared from the now terrible idea. I am hoping this one was pre-ve...

J/24 For Mom
Every spouse should have their own boat, mine chose a J/24. Of Course I get to bring it back to shape to race as my wife is active in the local J/24 Race fleet. The Project: 1977 J/24 Hull number 167. I picked up this boat locally for short money, the problem is it needs a good amount of work to bri...

Black Brass
Heres a question. I went to winterize my A4 in my renegade yesterday, which has been sitting in my yard for a month and noticed all the brass fittings in the engine compartment had turned black, which does not rub off. Has anyone else experienced this?

Random Orbit Sander
Well its that time of year. I went looking for my trusty porter cable random orbit sander and it seems to have disappeared. Since I can't find it I think its time to bite the bullet and purchase a new one. I started looking online for a replacement, and there are many more brands and styles to choos...

The boat was probably in great shape when it was placed where it is under some trees. the toerail has lichen and moss growing on it, there is standing water in the cockpit, the taveler lines look as if the are made of moss, the engine appears to be out of ...

Tim, you beat me to the punch. They guy responded to me that he is willing to sell the whole boat. He gave me no indication of price. I'm glad you got one. I did ask him for more pictures so I could make a determination. The problem with a Renegade is that I know of at least three good ones that can...

Being two weeks from my scheduled launch ( at least in my world) today ( or yesterday as soon as I finish this rambling) was the town election in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts!. I contrary to my friends and family's belief, I unseated a native 60+ year old ( no disrespect to anyone) fifteen year incum...

Sssshhhhh on the speaker thing. The last thing I want is a speaker in my ear (shoulder actually, but close enough). This is an ongoing battle, which so far I've won. I love listening to music when I'm sailing, as well as not listening to music while I'm sailing. The loaction for the speaker works w...

I just realized where that boat is. I drive by it several times a day. A for sale sign just went up a couple of days ago on it. Now I think I was a few feet off. That boat has been stored in that yard during the winter for several years. I will keep with my guess that its a Bristol but I think that ...

We seem to be changing the subject again (this thread was the attempt to avoid a sidetrack) but having 2 underseat lockers in the cockpit can not be over rated. Being able to keep all the often wet stuff outside the living space is worth all of the loss in living space and some! Back on track. (Rac...

Time for a new thread. I have been considering a cabin heater in my renegade for some time. I have done some winter sailing with friends who had a diesel heater, nothing better than warming up in a 70 degree cabin while its 35 out. Anyway, looking for input. What kind of stoves does eveyone have, pe...

I just replaced the sink in my boat last year, After I removed the sink I bought 10 years ago (I think I paid about $90 dollars for it), two of the four mounting studs broke while trying to remove it.
